Salted Caramel Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients
For the brownies:
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
For the salted caramel swirl:
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving a bit of overhang for easy removal. Melt the butter and chopped chocolate together, either in the microwave or over a double boiler, until smooth, then let it cool slightly. Stir in both the granulated and brown sugars, then beat in the eggs and vanilla until fully combined. Gently fold in the flour and salt until just incorporated. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, then drizzle the caramel sauce over the top and sprinkle with sea salt. Use a knife to swirl the caramel through the batter for a marbled effect. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing into squares, and for an extra touch, drizzle a little more caramel on top before serving.
